Montessori education is a natural process led by the child in a prepared environment. The teacher serves as a guide to nurture creative thinking and problem solving. WMI is internationally respected for producing engaged, thoughtful teachers who are not only prepared in the Montessori method but also motivated by the underlying philosophy.
We train adults to teach children in the Montessori primary class (ages 3-6). Our students gain a grounding in the Montessori philosophy as well as technical expertise in guiding children in their development. Our courses are accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale, the organization founded by Maria Montessori in 1929.
Our courses are taught by Janet McDonell and Jennifer Shields, two highly experienced AMI trainers. Both have decades of experience working with children and adults. They offer theory lectures, material demonstrations, and individualized support. Beyond WMI, Janet and Jennifer both train and speak around the country and world.
